Round Robin Swap

Participant Registration March & April
Swap Return Deadline August 1
Submissions Published: September ~ October issue

The Round Robin Swap starts at Canadian Stamper with a card with one image on it and a mask. The one image card then goes to an additional four to six rubber-stampers or paper craft artists (depending on how many sign up). Each individual adds one (1) image without embossing or embellishing, forwards the card to the next individual until the card has gone through the whole group and returns once again to Canadian Stamper for publication.

Once the Round Robin Swap is completed your groups' artistic creation is published in the September ~ October issue. Each participant will receive the issue it is published in (if you are already a subscriber, you will receive two (2) issues), publication recognition in addition to a token of our appreciation.

The Round Robin Swap relies on the honour system for completion. Please do not join the Round Robin Swap if you do not accept the following rules of the swap.

Ana Rocha Calgary, ABRules of Swap:

  • Each Round Robin Swap participant is not to have the card in his or her possession more than seven to ten days. If it is less, all the better so that in case there is snail mail delays after your part, the card returns on time for publication. Please do not rely on family and friends to mail the swap - this has caused delays in the past.
  • Add one (1) image, which can be stamped up to four times. Example, a small bunch of grass becomes a piece of lawn; a single flower becomes a bouquet, etc.
  • Include a mask (a paper the same shape and size as your image) when you send it on to the next participant.
  • Colour your image with pencil crayons, chalk, watercolours, markers, etc. The card must have a smooth surface. NO embellishments or embossing allowed.
  • Only the participants who are the last of each group have the privilege of coloring in the background and bringing the "whole card" together.
  • Please include your stamp credits and comments on the accompanying letter with the swap card.
  • Participants are assigned to groups in chronological order of registration received. No requests will be honoured for placement in the groups.
  • Clubs are welcome to register as a group; one person can be the contact with name, address and phone number. If your club numbers are, more than five or six people more than one group can sign up per club.

Sign-Up Deadline: April 30, 2003
Send your name, address, email address and phone number to Canadian Stamper either by email or snail mail.

FAQ

Here are some FAQ (frequently asked questions) about the Round Robin Swap (many thanks to Diane K. for organizing these FAQ's).

Ana Rocha Calgary, ABQ. Who starts the first image?
A. The Canadian Stamper people (the starter image is always from a Canadian stamp company).

Q. What is my cost?
A. Only the postage to mail to the next person on the list.

Q. How many people in each group?
A. Depending on the amount of people that sign up, four to six. One year we had ten Round Robins with four in each group - that was 40 people signed up so the more the merrier!

Q. Who determines who is in each group?
A. The staff at Canadian Stamper. Groups are made up as people sign up for the swap that is why a swap can criss-cross the globe several times in one group.

Q. How will I know what to do and who to send to?
A. The Canadian Stamper organizes everything, and includes detailed instructions in the accompanying letter that follows to each participant!

Q. What if I don't have the right stamps?
A. Well, this could be a good excuse to buy new stamps, or visit your favourite stamping pal and borrow hers!

Q. What if someone in the group doesn't follow through?
A. Well, this ruins it for everyone! That is why we ask for an email address and phone number so that if an email goes unanswered I have another way of contacting the next participant. In the previous four Round Robins, we have had six go missing; we can only rely on the honour of each stamper or crafter and hope that no one is disappointed, unfortunately, it can happen.

Q. I have more concerns or I want to sign up!
A. Then contact the host of this swap:
